This is a story of a Picky Princess on a search for the perfect Divali ensemble. It all started on her 2nd visit to the Divali Nagar, where she spotted a beautiful white and gold shalwar. The girl really wanted it, but didn't want to pay $350TT for it. After some persuasion by her Prince Charming, she decided to let him purchase it for her. She tried it on and to her great disappointment, it did not fit. The Picky Princess was distraught and upset, because she's never had that problem before. If anything, Indian wear was always too big for her and she usually had to get the royal seamstress to take in it. You see, the Picky Princess had gained some weight. Try as she might, she could not find another outfit to capture her heart that night. For when something captures her heart, she becomes fixated. After her mind is made up and there is no changing it.
Later that night back at her castle during pillow talk with her Prince, he persuaded her that the shalwar would fit when he realized she just couldn't get it out of her mind.
PP: "Why didn't it fit me today then, Prince?"
PC: "Silly, because you had so much clothes on."
PP: "Are you sure?"
His reassurance was all she needed! The next day, the Prince Charming took his Princess to the Nagar as soon as they opened at 11AM. They optimistically walked to the location that housed the golden garment. Closed. Doors bolted. The Princess turned to her Prince, disappointment in her eyes. "I guess I'll have to check around and see if I find anything else that suits my fancy," she said. And with that, the search continued. The rain started to pour. Stalls, after stall, after stall, after stall, nothing could capture the heart of the Picky Princess. They sadly returned to Prince Charming's work place soaking wet and deeply saddened. After the rain eased up, Prince Charming had a charming idea. His mother, Queen Jamina told him of some garment sales in the Province of Chaguanas. Off they rode in his Black Stallion, optimistic once more. (Yes, I said in and not on.) Racks, after racks, after racks, after racks of clothing and still nothing could capture the heart of the Picky Princess. Again, they returned to the Prince's work place, a bit drier this time.
After some time passed, they decided to head back to the Divali Nagar to see if the location that housed the golden garment had opened its doors. Off again they rode in his Black Stallion and to the Picky Princess's delight, the doors were wide open. Anticipation built as they walked towards the golden garment hoping that it was still there and that it would fit this time around! Hark! There it hung, floating high in the air as beautiful as ever. She tried it on and magically it fit! In all her glee, Prince Charming purchased the shalwar and made the Picky Princess very happy. He then handed her some gold coins and told her to shop to her hearts content. The Picky Princess bought accessories for her outfit and got her mehndi done professionally for the very first time!
The Picky Princess thanked her Prince for never giving up hope and for being so patient and loving. And they both had a wonderful, fun filled, and blessed Divali celebration!
