Benefits of Coconut Water

As Trini's, we really need to take advantage of all the fresh produce we're surrounded by.  Unlike the Americans who pay more for organic.. we're surrounded by organic, sometimes in our own backyard!

Coconut water a natural isotonic beverage that is full of electrolytes, calcium, potassium, and magnesium.  It replaces the fluids and mineral that the body loses during physical activities, which is the reason why me and my honey drink fresh coconut water after we run.  It also helps to increase the rate of metabolism by providing more oxygen to your body.

Benefits when consumed regularly:
  • Naturally Boost Immune System
  • Improves Intestinal Health
  • Increases Metabolism & Weight Loss
  • Balances Body PH
  • Detoxify & Fight Viruses
  • Stops Fatigue
  • Prevents Hypertension
  • Controls Diabetes
  • Aids in Circulation
  • Reduces Cancer Risk
  • Treats Kidney Stones
  • Eases Stomach Pain & Vomiting
Beauty Benefits:
  • This natural water is best for acne and blackheads also. This is a natural toning and cleansing mask for oily skin.
  • The coconut is known for being a light moisturizer that also decreases excessive oil on the skin, which could make it beneficial for smoothing out combination skin as well. Add this water to a bath, or mix it with liquid shower gel. It could also be added to lotion as well as hair conditioner or shampoo for oily hair.

P.S. Don't forget about the hydrating benefits of coconut oil! Check out my post on my DIY hot oil treatment: here.

Lacquerazzi // Little Red Corvette

China Glaze // Red Pearl (X Collection)

I love reds and finish on this particular one reminds me of car paint.  It's just as the name suggests, a pearly red; really bright and festive!

Icons of Parang Concert

Hey Glory Gals & Guys,

On Dec. 10, 2010 I attended the Icon's of Parang Show.  I took Boyfriend, Mom and my Cousin along with.  I was soooo excited about this concert, more than Nicki Minaj and Maroon 5... put together!  I LOVE soca parang!  I'm guessing it's partially because I don't hear soca parang on the radio during Christmas time in the States, so when I come down for a Trini Christmas I'm glued to Sweet 100!  I guess when your subjected to it every Christmas, it becomes whatever, but since it's a factor that I miss during Christmas time in the States, I throughly well  enjoy it when I'm down here in Trinidad.

We bought V.I.P. tickets, because I wasn't gonna sit in general for a concert I was this excited about.  As we entered the parking lot reserved for V.I.P., we were braced to pay 20 TTD.  If the parking is designated for us, tell me why do I have to pay again?  Shouldn't the cost of that be included in my ticket?  Whether or not that was legit, I have no idea, but we payed the $ and parked.  We got our bands and food chits and there was a drink stand when we entered right before we took our seats.  I thought it was some sample fruit juice something, but boy was I wrong!  It was the most potent mixed drink I've ever had, ever.  I had to shot it, because there was no sipping on something that strong.  My cousin and mom couldn't drink theirs, so your girl shot their drinks too!  I was buzzing as soon as I got to my seat.  Kenny J went first, then Baron, Crazy, and last was Scrunter.  Kenny J and Baron get away from me, but I corner Crazy and Scrunter before they left!

The turn out wasn't that great.  Me and Dale was probably the youngest couple there.  I was kinda disappointed that more Trini's didn't come out to see our local's perform.  I get more star struck for people like Sparrow, Baron, and Crazy and them than I do for celebs like Nicki Minaj and Beyonce (met them both and didn't go off on either one).

They didn't put up any tents, in case rain fell, except over their precious DJ equipment.  Because why put up tents when rain might not fall, that would be a waste of money.  Well all yuh, rain fell!  I have no problem dancing in the rain, because damn it, that's what I did.  But it was no fun for the older folk like my cousin and mom who tried to get shelter under the DJ's tent.

Food was good.  I had pastelle, geera pork, BBQ pigtail, and ham with chow-chow.  Unfortunately for my mother who doesn't eat pork, it wasn't so good.  Poor lady could only eat the pastelle, but on the bright side we made her take her share of food and eat her portions as well as our own.

Scrunter stole the show.  That man could perform!  He invited the crowd to come up closer to the stage and we all dance, dance, dance.  The clip I posted on YT is of part of his performance.  The erratically moving hand in front the camera is my own.  I was gone.  Even when we got home, I was still drunk!  Dale thought I danced it off, but.. I didn't.
Crazy was rushing off after his performance.  He said he have a woman home crazier than he!

I hug up de man like I know him from long time, eh!

warning: audio is terrible!

P.S. Despite the rain, I well enjoy myself.. can't say the same for my mom though =S

Lacquerazzi // Glitz and Gore

No Flash

With Flash

China Glaze // Zombie Zest

So weird, my ring finger is smudged in the pic, but I just took a look at it in person it's fine.  I don't remember retouching either.. hmm.. too much homemade wine?  Possibly.

The color is much more green in the bottle, but inconsistency with bottle color and what you actually get tends to be the case frequently when it comes to glitter or colors with glitter in it.  Though, a 3rd and 4th coat might fix that, I have enough problems with peeling nail polish, but that's another blog.  Regardless of the difference, I like it.  It matches my Christmas Tree.  The glitter makes it a festive color despite it's gory name, which I love.  Alliteration, Dr. Kublalsingh!  I learned something in Intro. to Poetry after all!

It pretty much looks like a moss green with lots of gold glitter.. really unique color!

This color also seems to be a decent dupe for Orly's "It's Not Rocket Science" from their Cosmic FX Collection.  Check it out on Temptalia: here

What's in the Box?..

Homemade Wine!

Howdy *hiccup* Glories!

I can't celebrate the holidays without some homemade wine!  And since we're throwing a Dutch (Potluck) Christmas lime, we decided to get some for the party.  Boyfriend got the number to a man in Arima who makes some in your not so average fruit flavors.  I expected to get flavors like Apple, Cherry, and Pear, but Mr. Richard Hernandez embraces Caribbean culture and uses flavors like Guava and Five Fingers.

I've had homemade wine before and the bottle has never been so aesthetically pleasing!  You can see that he takes pride in the labeling, packaging, and the little details like the names, it's really quite impressive.  He likes to refer to his wine as "home based," not homemade.  We bought 10 bottles for $460 TTD and got 2 bottles free.  Sorry, I'm not sure how much it is per bottle.

The theme of his collection is: WINE & ROMANCE and he's looking to launch it into the market next year.  The only change in the packaging will be an added label at the nape of the bottle with it's designated flavor for easy identification.  He had a taste testing party the other day and he told me he's still open to opinions and dared me to find any faults!  Needless to say, I'm excited to take on his challenge! =]
  • Desire - Guava
  • Romance - Pomerac
  • Pleasure - Five Fingers
  • Blossom - Paw-Paw
  • Jewel - Pineapple
  • Amelio - Blend of different fruits
He also told me he has one called "Laughter", but I'm unsure what flavor it is.  He's also currently working on a new blend as well.
Full of Passion

Top: 2 Bottles of Romance, 2 Bottles of Desire
Middle: 2 Bottles Jewel, 2 Bottles of Pleasure
Bottom: 2 Bottles of Amelio, 2 Bottles of Blossom

The other bottles have a beautiful purple seal at the top, ya'll know purple is my color

Some is Not Enough! (back of the label)

The seal at the top - love the detailing

We even got a small sample of Desire.  It smells so lovely, just like Guava, and tastes delicious.
If you don't like sweet wines, this isn't for you.

Give him a call - tell him Dale's GF sent you!

P.S.  Pomerac is one of my most favoritest fruits ever!  If someone would make a perfume out of the smell, I'd wear it.  Can't wait to crack the seal on that one and I WON'T be sharing!

Lacquerazzi // True Blue

China Glaze // Frostbite (Ski Collection)

If you like blue nail polishes, you need this in your life.  It's a bright, eye catching, almost metallic blue.  It looks a bit darker than in the picture (probably because I used flash).

Haul of Fame: Merry Christmas to... ME!

Hey Glories,

The holiday season has got a hold of me and I've been shopping like it going out of style!  Here are my recent buys and first impressions from Wonderful World, Pennywise, and Ambrosia Cosmetics.  I'm not the type of blogger who has patience to swatch every nail polish in one go, so lo siento, but you'll have to wait till I wear them to see pictures.

Wonderful World (Gulf City, Trincity, and West Mall):
Phat Santa, Party Hearty, Jolly Holly
First Impressions:  I was so excited I forgot to check for the other collection I want (Cheers to You).  I wanted Party Hearty more than the other two, but because it came with Jolly Holly, I put back Gussied Up Green which I initially was going to buy as well.

Party Hearty, Phat Santa, Jolly Holly, Frostbite, San Francisco, Zombie Zest, Rodeo Fanatic
(click names for swatches)
First Impressions:  I love the colors (or else I wouldn't have bought them, duh) and so far the color pay off and fluidity of the polishes have been impeccable.  I've seen a bit nail polish crazy these days, kinda sick of the colors I have.  I will update the links as I swatch.

NYX Round Lipstick: Helio, Metis, Harmonica
First Impressions:  I won't be buying anymore colors from this collection.  They are too sheer and I'm a fan of opaque lip colors.  The texture reminds me of ELF Lipsticks in that they are so smooth it's almost oily.

Helio, Metis, Harmonica
Top: Flash // Bottom: No Flash
First Impressions:  I like Helio.  I think I may have trouble pulling off Harmonica.  I bought Metis thinkin of Midas (the Greek king with the golden touch) and expected it to be gold.  Metis was some other dude and the color is not so gold.  At least the lipstick tube color matches what you get on the inside.

NYX Slim Pencil Liner: Espresso, Brown Black
First Impressions: No surprises here, most of my liner pencils are NYX.  It isn't as soft as a kajal pencil, but that's easily worked around by holding it up to a light bulb before application, if you want it to go on softer that is.

Espresso, Brown Black
Top: Flash // Bottom: No Flash
First Impressions:  Color on the liner matches what's inside.

Depotted NYX Jumbo Pencils: Pots and Pans, Gold, Iced Mocha, Dark Brown
First Impressions: Once again, no surprises here as I already have Milk and Black Bean.  It's a lovely creamy texture.  Unfortunately, I depotted them before I took shots, so they'are already in their new home.  I used the same method as seen: here.
Note: I got the container from Claire's in NYC, it originally housed loose glitters which I transported to a pill container as seen: here.

Pots and Pans
First Impressions:  I love the name of it and it's a really pretty & highly metallic looking medium toned silver

First Impressions:  What part of this looks like gold?  It's more of a copper color.

Iced Mocha
First Impressions:  Pretty color, not sure how I'm going to use it yet though.  Suggestions?

Dark Brown
First Impressions:  I think this is a must have like Milk & Black Bean, because I believe in having at least those three colors (white, black, and brown) when it comes to liners, jumbo or not.

#47 Red Cherry Lashes
First Impressions:  Does 100% Human Hair kinda creep you out too?

#102 Red Cherry Lashes
First Impressions:  I don't like that the packaging is not completely sealed and anyone can open it an re-close it in the store and you wouldn't know the difference.  Quite dramatic, I think they'll serve me well when I do my Lashes 101 tutorial since they're big enough for you to really see what's going on.

Magic U.S.A. Baked Eyeshadows
First Impressions:  They come in a variety of 4 colors, I went for the one that had gold and silver.  It was super cheap $12 TTD and I figured I'd give something "no name" a go.  I'm going to attempt a look with these colors alone.

Magenta, Gold, Tangerine, Silver (not the actual names, not sure if they even have actual names)
First Impression:  Color payoff is WOW.  I'm in love with all of the colors, especially the gold.  These were applied dry, so you can imagine how they might be applied wet =]
Top:  Flash // Bottom:  No Flash

Cala Emery Boards
First Impressions:  Cute designs and small enough to travel, which is the main reason why I bought them.  I hate when I get a chip or tear while I'm out and I can't file it down.

Vitale Olive Oil Leave-in Conditioner with Pro Vitamins
First Impressions:  I went in Pennywise looking for my Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-in Spray Conditioner, but they don't even have the Aussie line.  The girls were helping me search for another spray conditioner and I came across this one, which looked like the only one.  When compared to the ingredients on the back of my Aussie, it isn't as impressive.  There's more chemically kinda names behind Vitale vs. the more organic looking names like "aloe vera extract" behind Aussie.  I tried it the other day and it left my hair soft and shiny, but I still want my Aussie back!  (Oh, and it smells nice, but not as nice as my Aussie!)

Ambrosia Cosmetics:
Ambrosia's Eyeshadow Adhesive: Amplified
First Impressions:  I waited super long for this.  I'm starting to think I'm just bad lucky with my orders, because I've been waiting super long for my order from HalĂ©ner Rustique as well.  At first I thought, OMG this thing is tiny!  But then I told myself to stop, because at least they didn't use extra materials and packaging (or what I like to call: fluff) to make it look bigger than it really is like most companies do.  I think it's a bit pricey at $9.25 USD (I can't remember how much TT I payed and for some odd reason, the price are quoted in US on their FB site) and for that reason alone, I won't repurchase.  It looks like a depotted Milk Jumbo Pencil to me, but I haven't used it yet, so don't hold me to that.

Model in a Bottle
First Impressions:  Finally!  Because I got this after my Amplified.  I used it once o twice on myself and some clients.  I'm not liking it so far, it feels like hairspray on your face.  This once is the Sensitive Formula and it has a pretty strong scent so I can imagine how high the scent was for the Original formula.

After I play around with these items more, full reviews will be coming.  And who knows, my first impressions of them just might change.  If ya'll are interested in one product over the other, let me know and I'll try to review those first!

P.S.  Have any of you been splurging this holiday season?  I giving all my money to Wonderful World, steups!
